25 facts [Feb. 8th, 2009|03:29 pm]
Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you. It’s kind of like one of those annoying chain letters, except you won’t get bad karma if you don’t participate and it’s a ton more fun to read, so please participate!

1. Andrew McMahon and his music means more to me than you could possibly understand (except for lisa LOL).

2. I remember in third grade, we would have a reading time where we were welcome to bring books from home. Our teacher, Ms.Lack, would read to us and so I would bring my huge collection of Dr. Seuss books from home, and I would look forward to reading. I used to love school when I was younger.

3. I like to pretend I'm cool.

4. I unwittingly turn beet red at many situations.

5. I'm kind of really messy.

6. I love taking photos of anyone, or anything and keep them for memories. I have a compilation of photos which I absolutely love.

7. I'm Christian and proud.

8. I like listening to the Beatles in my car and singing along with my mom.

9. I like to quote songs.

10. I used to play the violin, guitar and piano. I wish I had kept that up

11. I have best friends whom I love dearly. They are pretty, amazing, french, tall, sweet, loud, weird, and asian. They know who they are.

12. I am very good at keeping secrets.

13. 'Konstantine', 'MFEO: Part 1- Made For Each Other, Part 2 - You Can Breathe', 'Caves' , 'Free Fallin', and 'Someday We'll Know' are quite possibly some of my favorite songs. Ever.

14. I like to smile. I tend to laugh at every joke, even if they are totally lame.

15. I am horrible at making decisions, I have to weigh all the pros and cons until I can make a decision.

16. I'm terrified of driving, you can probably guess why.

17. I'm a sucker for anything acoustic (and Brand New).

18. I miss the friends I used to have in elementary and middle school. Ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on, bra
La-la how the life goes on!

19. I hope someday someone can play 'Konstantine' for me on the piano.

20. I can be really quiet. I can be really weird. I can be loud. I can be awesome. Scratch that, I am awesome.

21. I tend to have many obsessions i.e., lee pace, michael cera, pushing dasies, certain bands, Skins! and strawberries.

22.  I believe everything happens for a reason.

23. I don't plan on staying in Miami for much longer.

23. I have no idea what I want to do when I'm older, but I can't wait to see how it'll turn out.

25. I love my life, and I couldn't ask for anything more. Family and friends are all I need. Actually, all you need is love!

My Home Is People Not Places [Jan. 28th, 2009|10:03 pm]
My Home Is People Not Places
My house is not a big one, nor is it an extraordinary one. It is a small apartment my family rents overlooking the busy city of Miami in Brickell. As I have visited other friends’ houses, I marvel at the beauty and contemplate on what each piece of furniture means and how it is connected to the family. What movie they watched while they sat in the luxurious living room or what discussion they had at the family table. Our home is humble, but ever since I can remember, there were always people coming in and out; my amiable sisters and their friends laughing and telling stories every weekend and making a ruckus. Family friends could be seen coming in to try my mother’s newest recipe and my church friends ready to play Candy Land as well as neighbors giving their advice on how to fix something in the kitchen. My mother would always keep the door open. When I was younger, I would always wonder if I would have that many friends, and all I ever wanted was to be like my sisters with that many friends.
Last weekend, I had an idea to invite a couple of my closest friends over to my home. Not many of my friends had really stayed over for a long time, so this was a first and I was very excited. I only knew one thing; my apartment is small, but homey. I wondered what my friends would think of it.
I hurried off to fix my room which I used to share with my sisters and I made sure the living room was up to par. It was finally time to pick up my friends at a place nearby, and off we went. On the ride home I was nervous that my home would not be cool enough for them.
Some of my closest friends were able to visit me were from my middle school. We had different destinies at different schools, but I knew no matter how long we had been apart; we would always stay connected. One friend in particular I hadn’t seen in so long. She is a soft spoken, easygoing girl who always knows what to say. She can always burst out in dance and is extremely intelligent. Her parents do not always let her out, and so I was excited that I would be able to spend time with her. Her name is Debbie, and she is one of the nicest and funniest friends I know. She will be the first one to introduce herself with a smile. Debbie can always make me laugh with a witty comment and is a great listener.
The usual routine to hang out with friends is to watch a movie, but I find that it is not as fun as being able to spend time just sitting at someone’s room and talking. For this reason, I was eager for all of us to hang out. Another friend who came over to my home was a French/Haitian girl who is very gullible. I have known her since 7th grade, and I could tell her all my stories and I can always laugh at her silly moments. She goes by the name of Lisa-Stephanie and knows how to laugh at herself. I think I have learned how to do that about myself from her. I can always count on her and she is incredibly sweet just like her mother.
And last but not least is a short, loud Asian girl who I have known for so long. I can call her my best friend and mean it. She has many nicknames, but I first knew her as a tiny fourth grader. She wore a label as the new kid on the block, but I would come to know her as Audrey. I would always find myself window shopping in downtown with her and her mother or listening to her elaborate creative stories about her dreams of us twenty years from now. Many of those dreams would include us frequently visiting each other, and happily married with kids. Usually, our kids would marry each other and we would truly be a family.
To my surprise, no one disproved of my house, and took to it right away. At my petite house, we watched movies all day long. Lisa had picked out the movie and filled us in on all the scenes that went over our head. Debbie would slip in a hilarious comment to be shushed down by Audrey. At the ironic situation that it is usually Audrey making the loud comments, I would always chuckle at Debbie’s opinions.
A musician once said “That’s why my home is people not places and why I lean on the horizon like a dying man with one last thing to see.” I finally understood what he had meant. I would be nowhere without my family and friends. That weekend made me appreciate everyone around me; from my friends to my mother who made us her special dish.
Whether we were picking up a pizza to go or making silly videos, we were always making each other laugh. The whole day we were taking photos, making kissy faces at the camera and attacking each other on my couch. We made sure to always add a silly comment after reviewing each photo. Suddenly it didn’t matter that my house wasn’t half as big as the other houses I had visited before, or as glamorous as some on TV, but I was living in the moment with the people I cared so much about. We spent all day together, and we didn’t want it to end. While we left Debbie home, she commented saying that she really needed a weekend like that. I was glad that she got it and at no one else’s house buy my own. My own little humble abode.

My blue dress is at the cleaners. The germans wore gray, you wore blue. Casablanca. Casablanca, such a good movie. Casablanca. The White house... Bush. Why don't I drive a hybrid car? I should really drive a hybrid car. I should really take my bicycle to work...bicycle, unicycle, unitard, hockey puck, rattle snake, monkey, monkey, underpants!

be more chill! [Dec. 30th, 2008|09:32 pm]
so i just finished 'Be More Chill' by Ned Vizzini

The book is about Jeremy Heere who keeps Humiliation Sheets whenever something terrible happens to him. He is a loser, dork who is has a huge crush on Christine. He is afraid to talk to her, so he saves up for a 'squip'. The squip helps him kiss some girls (2 to be exact). The squip is not exactly the best, it doesn't understand feelings or love. He ends up embarrassing himself in front of hundreds of people, just for Christine. But when she does not understand and rejects him, he gives up his squip and writes a book so Christine can have some insight on Jeremy with his squip.

For more about the squip:

best friends and ...life [Dec. 28th, 2008|01:23 am]
[music |kids in glass houses]

I absolutely love my best friends,
so i planned a small get-together for my friend,
and when everyone popped out, her face was priceless,
and it felt good to have something you accomplished, well, appreciated :)
I am glad she had fun and enjoyed her day.
But it felt like I was being tugged by two groups form two different schools, but with people I really love at the same time.
When I am older in college,
I want to be able to hang out with everyone just as I did tonight
but when a frind ditches you... it feels weird, and uncomfortable,
but if that's the way it is, im okay with that

I love days like these

I want to get out of this place,
suffocating,
and being scrutinized for everything you do

It's good to be alive [Dec. 22nd, 2008|07:36 pm]
[music |Lights and Buzz]

I'm coming home from my hardest year
I'm making plans not to make plans while I'm here
And this life has been no holiday, a complicated situation
I'm fine with all my memories
Still I could use vacation

It's Christmas in California
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters

It's christmas in Miami,
same old, same old.
I need a big event, something to remind me, show me, that it's time for the holidays,
I found this neat photo that sums up imagery of this awesome Jack's song

It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive

I'm coming home to the lights and buzz
Streets look the same, still nothing's as it was
This place is paradise I'm sure, here's my reservation
I've gotten lost here once before
Inside a good vibration

It's Christmas in California
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters

It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive

And time, time it stops for no one
The seasons come and go and that's just time
Yeah time it stops for no one
The seasons keep on going
Whether or not we're blind

Christmas in California
And it's hard to ignore that it feels like summer all the time
But I'll take a west coast winter to remove my splinters

It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive
It's good to be alive

COLDPLAY 'VIVA LA VIDA TOUR'
Sunday, November 9th, 2008
Bank Atlantic Center

ahhhhhhhhh!
so sunday night was one of the gretest nights ever.
unfortanately, I did not have a camera, so no pictures :(
but yeah, sleepercar http://www.sleepercarmusic.com/
was the opening act, pretty good and mellow
then colllllldplay played all of the hits,
and when viva la vida came out, EVERYONE got up out of their seats and danced!
it was absolutely amazing
Setlist: Life In Technicolor
Violet Hill
Clocks
In My Place
Speed Of Sound
Cemeteries Of London
Chinese Sleep Chant
42
Fix You
Strawberry Swing
God Put A Smile Upon Your Face (techno version)
Talk (techno remix) The Hardest Part
Postcards From Far Away (piano instrumental)
Viva La Vida
Lost!
The Scientist (acoustic)
Death Will Never Conquer (acoustic - Will singing)
Viva La Vida (remix interlude)
Encore:
Lovers In Japan Death And All His Friends
Yellow The Escapist (outro)

I cried a bit during the scientist
and will singing was so awesome
the show was a beautiful array of colors, like lasers,
and confettttti!
and when chris played piano by himself was amazing,
and what was so surprising was the thousands(maybe 10) people that attended-every single seat was full!
I loved how every one sang along to the songs, like we were all there for a reason.
deff one of the best concerts I have ever attended, and trust me, I've been to a couple.

After the show, I bought a red t-shirt that said 'Viva la Vida'- love it!
but perhaps I should've got the white one with 'Strawberry Swing' lyics-fave song ever!

ahhh, a night I'll never forget!
